Christmas parades cancelled due to weather

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) —  As a result of cold and wet weather expected for this weekend, local Christmas events have been canceled and rescheduled for a later date.

This is a developing list, check back for updates and additions. 

ADAMSVILLE, Ala.  — The following is from the City of Adamsville Facebook page:
PLEASE SHARE. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather we have had to cancel our Adamsville Christmas Parade for this year. We are not planning to reschedule this event. We instead will go back about 15 years and Santa will ride to each neighborhood on the Fire Truck passing out candy. More information on Santa’s visits will be available within a few days.

CENTER POINT, Ala. —  The Center Point Christmas parade has been postponed and rescheduled for Dec.15, 2018. 

GADSDEN, Ala. —  The city of Gadsden Christmas parade has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

IRONDALE, Ala. —  The following is a message sent from the Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce, the parade has been tentatively rescheduled:

Because of anticipated cold & wet weather this Saturday, the 2018 Irondale Christmas parade has been RESCHEDULED for next Saturday, December 15, at 11 AM (all times remain the same).  For additional details about the parade, click here to visit the event page on our website.

JEMISON, Ala. —  The City of Jemison Christmas parade has been canceled and there will not be a reschedule date.

TRUSSVILLE, Ala.–The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) has announced that the Trussville Christmas parade has been postponed due to the strong possibility of heavy rains this week-end. The parade is now scheduled for next Saturday, December 15, at 3 p.m.

The City’s tree lighting event is still planned for Friday, December 7. There will be Christmas carols, Christmas activities and snacks, and more. Santa is also expected to attend. The event will be from 6 to 7 p.m., with the tree lighting at 6:30. Those who attend the tree lighting are also invited to bring to the event a new unwrapped toy for the Trussville Fire Department’s annual toy drive.
