CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) – A child reportedly was struck by a vehicle in front of the Subway in Center Point around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators told WIAT 42 that a group of children were attempting to cross the road. One of the children darted out from the group and was hit.
The child appeared to be alert and responsive as he was being loaded into the ambulance.
Center Point Mayor Tom Henderson told WIAT that this stretch of road sees a lot of traffic.
“But it’s very busy, and this time of day is not a good time for pedestrians to come crossing the road,” said Henderson.
Henderson added that he’s glad the child doesn’t appear to be hurt too badly. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating
The child was transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment.
