BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A 10-year-old child that was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Birmingham Tuesday, has died.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the child was riding a motorcycle mini-bike when he was hit around 2 p.m. at the corner of Hollywood Lane and Charles Street near the Dolomite neighborhood.

The child was transported to Children’s of Alabama for treatment where he died Tuesday night. He was later identified by the coroner as Marquis Bell.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
