CBS 42’s Simone Eli reflects on passing of Rod & Paula Bramblett

Auburn, Ala. (WIAT) — The man known as the voice of the Auburn University Tigers was killed in a car crash Saturday night. 

Rod Bramblett and his wife, Paula, were involved in a wreck on Shug Jordan Parkway around 6 p.m. Paula was taken to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment while Rod was taken to UAB hospital in Birmingham.

Just after midnight, the Lee County Coroner’s Office confirmed that both Rod and Paula passed away. A 16-year-old was also involved in the crash and was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Rod had been the lead broadcaster for the Auburn Tigers since 2003 and CBS 42 Sports Anchor Simone Eli met him in 2013.
