Career expo encouraging students to explore high-demand, high-wage jobs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Central Six AlabamaWorks is set to provide 8th through 12th grade students with unique career exposure at the Annual  “World of Work at SkillsUSA 2019” Exposition.

The Unique Career Exposition invites 8th through 12th grade students from Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, Blount, Chilton and St. Clair counties to start making plans to become leaders in high wage workforce industries.

The event will provide hands-on opportunities throughout the conference. Students wlll be able to see and participate in various future careers such as welding, healthcare services, engineering demonstrations and much more.

The event is being held at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex – North Exhibition Hall Tuesday April 16th, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

World of Works is done in partnership with AIDT, Workforce Council Region 4 and SkillsUSA. They provide real- world simulations of high-demand, high wage careers within our workforce region. It also gives businesses the opportunity to engage in youth career exploration.

This is the second year that Central Six AlabamaWorks!has hosted thie event and expects to have nearly 5,000 students and businesses in attendance this year.
