Car drives off cliff and nearly into ravine near Vulcan Park

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A call came in at 10:30 p.m. of a motor vehicle accident in the 2000 block of Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard South near Vulcan Park. A  vehicle was found hanging on the edge of a ravine with the driver side door open. Birmingham Fire and Rescue quickly located the victim nearly 20 feet down the ravine.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue called in rescue specialists who specialize in climbing and they retrieved the victim. The victim, a white male in his late 40s, sustained a minor ankle injury and refused transport to the hospital. No one else was in the car at the time.
