BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Changes are coming to the Five Points South Community in the form of a new business being called the Magic City's next entertainment experience.
The Woolworth is a social house concept that will house a bowling alley, rooftop bar overlooking 20th Street South and a restaurant.
The same investors who saw the potential in the Avondale community are now focusing their efforts in Five Points South.
"Five Points South is a very diverse, fun place to come," said John Boon, a principle for Orchestra Partners. "People come here in groups and they bar hop so we're trying to come up with a concept for them to start and end their night as a group eating as a group and of course drinking as a group as well."
Orchestra Partners has purchased several buildings in the area with plans to transform the neighborhood into a city-wide attraction.
"We're trying to change the perception that Five Points is this tired place because there was a time, you talk to anybody in my age group, Five Points was the only place to go and the and all these other entertainment districts popped up but it still has staying power," said Boone.
The developers are also working on another project just a couple of doors down at the former space of Base Camp.
They're turning an abandoned building and alleyway into a bar space using converted shipping containers.
The Woolworth is expected to open in early August.
