BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Blue Cross Blue Shield is providing a place to get a great workout after work for free.

“Get Healthy on the Railroad” exercise classes started in March and end through the end of October.

There’s hip hop cardio on Mondays, boot camp on Tuesdays, Zumba on Wednesdays, yoga on Thursdays and family fun Friday. People of all ages enjoy the fun hour of fitness each day.

There are some people who are just now beginning and some who return for their favorite workouts.

“I like the mixture of the cardio and the different classes that they offer,” Angela Nevins said.

All classes begin at 6 p.m. at Railroad Park and last an hour. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to register. Those who attend will have to register each time. It takes less than a minute.

In addition to the 6 p.m. exercise classes, there’s a senior fit class each Tuesday at 8 a.m. The class started on May 7 and lasts until September 24.

The sponsorship of “Get Healthy on the Railroad” allows the company to make a positive impact on the community and the overall health of the downtown Birmingham area.

Most classes meet at the central area of Railroad Park across from RedCat Cafe.

In the event that there are any cancellations, check Railroad Park’s Facebook.
