Birmingham Police arrest two suspects in June 5 church burglary

Birmingham Police have taken two men into custody in connection with a burglary case that resulted in $50,000 in damage, according to a release from the department.

Members of Nichols Temple on the 700 block of 17th Street in Ensley arrived on June 5 to find damage to multiple doors of the church along with toilets and urinals, according to the release. Surveillance video reportedly captured images of 23-year-old Nicholas Lee and 19-year-old Cedric Carter prying on doors. 

Authorities posted the video to Facebook, and members of the community watched and reportedly identified the suspects, according to the release. Both suspects are in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Burglary and Criminal Mischief.
