Birmingham gets $1.5 million from U.S. Dept. of Transportation for electric buses, charging stations

The U.S Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded $84.45 million in grants to 41 states for transportation infrastructure that use advanced technologies. 

The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority will receive $1.5 million to purchase battery electric buses and charging stations. 

“FTA is proud to partner with transit providers across the country to support their transit priorities. The participation from our local partners shows a dedication to improving access to jobs and opportunities,” said FTA Acting Administrator K. Jane Williams.
