The Morton Simpson Village released the following statement regarding the shooting:

The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District is working closely with Birmingham Police regarding this morning’s incident at Morton Simpson Village. HABD has zero tolerance for criminal activity of any sort and is appalled by the display of violence today. Innocent lives were endangered due to foolishness, and this will not stand. We have directed our property management to take any and all necessary steps to respond to today’s activity, including reviewing leases, residency and trespassing rules. If any of these regulations have been violated, managers are ordered to begin eviction proceedings immediately. It is simple: Reside in our communities, follow basic rules and work toward self-improvement, or get out.”
