‘All clear’ given for bomb threat at downtown bus station

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) received a threat Tuesday indicating that a bomb had been placed in Central Station. 

This happened around 1:20 p.m. The Birmingham Police Bomb Squad investigated a call on a suspicious object.

Just before 4 p.m., the bomb squad secured the location, authorities removed the item and learned that it was a toy. Birmingham Police Department has cleared Central Station and the building is now open.

Buses will resume their normal schedule.
