ALEA reports half as many traffic deaths from 2018 over Memorial Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has reported a 50% drop off in traffic fatalities over Memorial Day Weekend from 2018 to 2019.

In 2018, the ALEA investigated 10 traffic fatalities over the holiday. In 2019, the number of investigations dropped to just five.

The ALEA encouraged drivers to continue to drive safe during these summer months as well as wear your seatbelt.
