Alabama State student killed in off-campus Saturday morning shooting

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — A former Pell City High School and Alabama State University student was killed early Saturday morning in an off-campus shooting.

19-year-old Alexis Moss was struck and killed by a stray bullet Sept. 7 after two groups got into an altercation with another, leading to weapons being discharged, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Another victim was also shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting and have determined Moss and the second victim were not involved in the altercation. No suspects are in custody at this time.

ASU released a statement regarding Moss’ death:

The statement mentioned students do have access to free counseling services on campus if they feel they need it.
