BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama was ranked as the fifth worst state to live in according to a new study from WalletHub.
WalletHub, the personal-finance website, ranked all 50 states using 51 metrics including housing costs, income growth, education rate and quality of hospitals.
Alabama ranked 45th in both percent of the population in poverty and percent of adults in fair or poor health.
Massachusetts was ranked as the best place to live and Mississippi finished at number 50.
