BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) Start your engines! The Annual Electrathon Alabama Compeition will be held at Barber Motorsports Park on Monday April 15. High School and college students will drive electropowered vehicles they designed for one hour in competiton on a closed course.
In all 39 cars from 19 high schools and five colleges and professional teams are set to compete. Students wull enjoy a plug in electric car show featuring vehicels from BMW, Chevrolet and Ford. Event sponsors include Alabama Power, SKY (Skilled Knowlegeable Youth), Zoom Motorsports and Barber Motorsports Park.
The event started with a Vehicle Inspection at 7:30 a.m. The first race starts at 10 a.m. and the second race starts at 1:30 p.m.
Awards are scheduled to be presented at 3:30 p.m.
