PIEDMONT, Ala. (WIAT) — One person was killed Monday morning in a mobile home fire, Piedmont Fire Chief Mike Ledbetter tells CBS 42.

Ledbetter says they received the call reporting a fire at 6:10 a.m. at a mobile home in the 600 block of Piedmont Cutoff.

When they arrived, the residence was consumed in heavy fire. One man escaped the flames with burns; he was flown to an Atlanta-area hospital. Another occupant was found dead inside the home.

The Calhoun County coroner sent the body off to the forensics lab in Huntsville for identification.
