1 dead after 2 motorcycles crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — One person is dead after two motorcycles crashed Saturday on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Tuscaloosa.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the motorcycles were apart of a funeral procession. The crash occurred at 12:18 p.m. and shut down traffic in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard by Short 19th Street.

Lincoln resident Larry Darnell Williams, 67, was identified as the victim. Police said that he was among a group of riders that were escorting a funeral procession.

They say he made a U-turn near Short 19th Street to retrieve a forgotten phone from a church. Another motorcycle driver who was traveling in the left lane was unable to stop in time after Williams turned.

Williams was pronounced dead on the scene. His passenger, a 54-year-old woman, and the driver of the other motorcycle, a 28-year-old man, were transported to DCH with non-life threatening injuries.
