Life is a highway: Alabama freeways 4th best in nation, study finds

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — As you start traveling out and around the state for summer vacations, it may be nice to know that you are driving on the fourth best highways in the country, according to AutoInsurance.org.

The automobile insurance comparison website looked at the state of highways and bridges in all 50 states.

The study found that of the 6,471 miles of highway in the state, 79% of them are in good condition.

Kansas, Nevada, Florida and North Dakota rounded out the top five. Rhode Island finished with the worst highway conditions with 38% of their 251 miles of highways in poor condition.
