Birmingham City Schools students are joining students nationwide in the National Walkout Day, protesting gun violence in schools following the school shooting that took 17 lives in Parkland, Fla. as well as the shooting that happened inside Huffman High School exactly one week ago today.

Students at Huffman High School will walkout for 18 minutes–one additional minute to honor the life of 17-year-old Courtlin Arrington, who was shot inside Huffman High School last Wednesday. Fellow student 17-year-old Michael Barber is facing charges in her death–manslaughter and a charge of certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol.
