BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police report a suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation from September.

Police obtained capital murder and attempted murder charges for 18-year-old Terry Lee Skanes. When he was arrested, police report, he was in possession of a stolen vehicle, narcotics, and a firearm.

On Sept. 8, 2018 around midnight, 21-year-old Marquez Green and another man arrived at UAB Hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Green had been shot once in the back and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital, police tell CBS 42. The other victim was shot in the arm and his injuries were considered to be non-life threatening.

Early investigation revealed to police that the two men were sitting in a car in the 2400 block of Steiner Court Southwest when an unknown vehicle began to shoot at them. Investigators believe the shooting isn’t random and that the victims were targeted.

Skanes remains in the Jefferson County Jail with a $60,000 total bond.
