Birmingham celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with ‘Fiesta’ on Saturday

Hispanic Heritage Month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The latter half of September and the beginning of October are recognized as Hispanic Heritage Month. To celebrate the many Hispanic cultures in Central Alabama, you can attend the 19th Annual Fiesta Birmingham.

The event will take place at Linn Park in Birmingham on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. Between those hours, attendees will be able to experience all things Hispanic, including food, art and dancing.

You’ll enjoy different “villages,” offering a unique experience at each, that will be set up at Fiesta. Villages include a family village, cultural village, community village, health, and wellness village, as well as a variety of musical acts performing on the main stage.

According to Cristina Almanza, a Board Member with the Fiesta , much of the proceeds from the festival go toward scholarships for Hispanic students. Over the last 18 years, Fiesta has awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships to Hispanic students in Alabama through the Arte Latino Scholarship and the Logros Latino Scholarships.

Anyone who would like to attend the fiesta can buy tickets here.
