ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) — In honor of Black History Month, there’s a street in Alabaster many will know, but many might not know the history. Cohill Drive is dedicated to the Cohill family, specifically Paul Cohill Sr. and his brother Jackson Cohill.
His family tells CBS 42 they were a hard working family that loved their city and had a big influence during the civil rights era.
Hallie Cohill, who married into the Cohill family, stated, “They were so nice and church going people.[They] just believe in they loved their city they lived in, and it was my daddy-in-law and his brother and also my husband started going to city council meetings; I used to go with them.”
Some of the Cohills still live in Alabaster and throughout Alabama.
