FDA approves new breakthrough migraine treatment

U.S. (WIAT) — It’s being called a breakthrough for those who suffer from migraines. 

A new FDA approved treatment called Emgality is the third in a class of new drugs that aim to stop the headaches before they begin. 

Emgality is a once per month treatment. it binds wih a substance of the brain that may cause migraines. Officials report, there are no major side effects.

The drug costs about $575 per month. The company, Lily, is offering some sufferers their first year of doses for free.
