Ground beef recalled issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture

(WIAT) – JBS USA, Inc., a Lenoir North Carolina recalled approximately 35,464 pounds of raw ground beef on Friday, according to a release from the United States Department of Agriculture.

JBS USA is a company that supplies meat to stores like Kroger. The recall was issued after a consumer contacted the U.S. Department of Agriculture to complain about hard, blue pieces of plastic found in a product. 

The raw ground beef items were produced on March 22, according to the release.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 34176” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution centers in Virginia and Indiana for further distribution to retail locations, according to the release.
