BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Next month, the Greater Birmingham Humane Society Auxiliary will host its eighth annual Jazz Cat Ball! The night of food, music, and more is the Humane Society’s largest annual fundraiser each year.
This year’s Jazz Cat Ball is sponsored by John 3:16. Guests will be treated to a seated dinner, live music, ritzy casino games and an online silent and live auction. The event doubles as a celebration of Mardi Gras here in Birmingham and is normally a sell out with more than 900 people in attendance.
The silent and live auction gives supporters a chance to bid on exciting trips, unique jewelry, art and more as they support GBHS. Money raised during the Jazz Cat Ball helps GBHS provide services such as health care, shelter, food and socialization for thousands of animals each year. It also helps fund the GBHS externship program for fourth-year students from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
GBHS took in almost 22,000 animals last year and expects intake numbers to rise this year. The Jazz Cat Ball is crucial when it comes to providing critical health care and more to abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
The Jazz Cat Ball is set for Saturday, February 9th from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. It’s being held at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel Ballroom on Richard Arrington Junior Boulevard in Birmingham. The ball is a black tie affair.
Tables of 10 are available now at $2,000 per table and individual tickets are also available at $250 each. You can buy your ticket or make a donation here. The online auction starts Saturday, January 27th. Those items can be viewed here.
