Funeral arrangements announced for Jurnee Coleman, donations needed

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for the 4-year-old girl who was struck by a stray bullet last month.

The celebration of life service for Jurnee Coleman will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Zion City on Aug. 10.

Visitation will be Aug. 9 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Brighton Christian Memorial Funeral Home at 4400 Ninth Avenue North in Bessemer.

Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

On July 28, Coleman was struck on the head by a stray bullet while in her home in the Marks Village housing project in Gate City. She remained in intensive care for several days before she died July 31.

Raymond Shines, 28, was later arrested and charged in the shooting.

According to Brighton Christian Memorial Funeral Home, the family does need assistance in burying their loved one. Donations will be accepted at Brighton Christina Memorial. For more information, contact them at 205-425-3577.
