Former Southside police officers arrested, charged with rape

SOUTHSIDE, Ala. (WIAT) — Two former officers with the Southside Police Department were taken into custody after being charged with rape, according to a release issued by the department.

In November, 44-year-old Brian Edward Walker and 41-year-old Jonathan (Jon) Perry Works were put on administrative leave after the Southside Police Department received information regarding criminal misconduct by the officers. Both resigned shortly after.

Walker and Works were taken into custody by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.

Works is charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree rape, according to court documents. His bond is set at $100,000. Walker is charged with two counts of first-degree rape with his bond set at $50,000.
