(WIAT) — The Jacksonville State Baseball team was in a bind. The team’s home stadium Rudy Abbot Field has been undergoing renovations, and the field they usually play at, Choccolocco Park was hosting a High School baseball tournament
With a three game series with Ohio Valley Conference opponent Murray State, the Gamecocks were without a home, until the UAB Blazers extended a welcome hand.
“We are thankful for UAB their baseball program and the administration for allowing us to play here.” Said Jacksonville State Head Baseball Coach Jim Case “We have so many kids from basically in the area this is kind of home to a lot of us this is my home.”.
Jacksonville State will play the three game series against the Racers, at Young Memorial Stadium on the campus of UAB. The Gamecocks and Racers will have a doubleheader Saturday with the first game starting at 1:00 PM.
