Fatal alpaca shooting under investigation by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office

CORNER, Ala. (WIAT) — Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting and killing of an alpaca near Corner in northern Jefferson County, according to a release from the department.

Deputies received a call around 5:30 pm. yesterday from a home on the 4100 block of Warrior-Jasper Road to investigate a report of an animal being shot. The owner of the animal began to worry after the alpaca did not report for his feeding, around 4 p.m.

The owner then went to find the alpaca, finding it had been shot twice and killed. The owner believes that the shooting occurred sometime during Sunday night.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
