DUNCANVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — A Tuscaloosa County woman has been missing since Tuesday and her family wants her found safe and sound.

52-year-old Monica Mitchell was last seen in the Oakmulgee National Forest, Wednesday State Police found her Volkswagon Jetta vehicle in the forest but the 52 year was nowhere to be found.

The missing woman’s two sons, Clay and Cody Mitchell, are very concerned and worried about their mother.  Clay Mitchell says not knowing is painful.

“Its been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with in my entire life.  Because she has always been there for us and is the best mom anyone could ask for.  It’s so hard not having her around and not where she is scared or knowing what to do,” Mitchell said.

Cody Mitchell says many family members joined police Wednesday in searching for his mother.  He is thankful for SBI agents who are searching.

“We pray for her safe return and we want to thank everybody who has reached out with leads and everything that’s been done so far we want to thank everybody.”

Clay Mitchell is also grateful for so much support and help from the community.

“I just hope she come home and we find her safely somewhere so I can have my mother back.”
