BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Chad Cooper Company on Broadway will present “Justice on Trial: Black Lives Matter Too.”
The play is in a courtroom setting where two civil rights attorneys are suing the U.S. Justice Department for reparations on behalf of the descendants of slaves. The play brings back time travel expert witnesses like Harriet Tubman, Medgar Evers and Emmett Till. They tell their stories to a mixed-race jury. Organizers say the play is designed to provoke thought and conversation about compensation for blacks.
The play features actress Alicia Robinson Cooper. She is known as the lead singer for gospel singer John P. Kee. Jerry Brunson also performs in the play. He is known for his role in the movie “The Preacher’s Wife.” Local actors are also performing.
You can see the play at the Boutwell Auditorium on Sunday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.thechadcoopercompany.com or by calling 212-786-6460.
