Doctor weighs in on whooping cough outbreak in Alabama as students return to school

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s Immunization Division is investigating a pertussis outbreak after they say nine children have been diagnosed with the disease often known as whooping cough. 

ADPH says there are 22 people with pertussis-like illness (PLI) who are linked to people who tested positive.

Dr. Amy Illescas from Total Care 280 joined us on the CBS 42 Morning News with Art Franklin to talk about the outbreak of the very contagious virus.
