Death investigation underway, Hoover Police say; UPDATE: Victim identified

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: According to the Jefferson County Coroner, Matthew Earl Isbell, 46, of Hoover was found at 3:52 p.m. and pronounced dead at 4:25 at the scene after yesterday’s incident. Isbell lived at the residence.

Coroners have not confirmed the cause of death at the moment, but what can be confirmed is that Isbell sustained trauma.

Hoover Police Department is investigating a death investigation. 

Around 4 p.m. police responded to the 1100 block of Hibiscus Drive on a report of an unresponsive person. Police arrived to find a 46-year-old man inside of a home bleeding from the head. 

Medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at 4:13 p.m. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and transported the victim to their office where an autopsy will be performed. At this time, the death is unclassified pending the results of the autopsy.
