DALLAS, Texas (CNN & KTVT) – UPDATE: 07/11/19- The body of 18-month-old Cedrick Jackson has been located in a landfill, after being abducted by the boyfriend of the Aunt who was keeping the child.
Wednesday afternoon, Dallas Police searched for the 18-month-old after he was reported missing and had been abducted. According to Officials, Sedrick Deshun Johnson — the boyfriend of 18-month-old Cedric “C.J.” Jackson’s Aunt — is in police custody in relation to the death of the little boy.
Police arrested Johnson Thursday morning. It’s unclear what his role was.
Johnson’s prior criminal history includes abandoning and endangering a child with intent to return, prostitution, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Dallas police say back in 2010, after arresting Johnson for prostitution, his daughter – who was 4-months-old at the time – was found left alone in his apartment. Police said Johnson told them he had left her on the bed while he went to the store to get cigars.
Johnson got four years probation for the offense, which he later violated multiple times. Violations include testing positive for THC on several occasions, giving officers false information, resisting arrest.
Law enforcement says that the body Cedric, who was reported missing Wednesday morning, was recovered at a landfill. The Amber Alert for the missing child was also discontinued.
The investigation into how Cedric ended up at the landfill is leaning toward him getting there through trash pickup and dropoff.
Dallas police have not confirmed the boy’s death, but sources with the department said Thursday they believed the child was dead earlier in the morning before his body was found.
