Victim killed during apparent robbery in Tom Brown Village

AVONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham man was killed in a shooting in the Tom Brown Village Housing Community Monday night.

The incident happened in the 500 block of 41st Street North. According to Sgt. Shelton with Birmingham Police, police received calls from multiple citizens in the area around 10:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found the victim, 26-year-old Jeremy Robinson, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Robinson was transported to UAB Hosptial where he later died.

Officials say Robinson and another man were robbed by an unknown male suspect baring a riffle. The suspect only got a handgun from the man with Robinson. Investigators believe another male suspect started firing an assault rifle from the other end of the courtyard, striking Robinson. The suspect fired multiple shots, but Robinson was the only person hit.

All suspects fled the scene.
