TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — While police were on the scene of a Sunday morning shooting at the Creekwood Apartments, they heard more gunfire nearby.

According to a press release from the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the first shooting incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the apartments located at 1750 40th Avenue. Two victims were located at that location with multiple gunshot wounds including two men, ages 21 and 22.

The victims were initially taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa; however, the 21-year-old victim was later transported to UAB in Birmingham with life-threatening injuries. According to police, both victims were inside a vehicle parked in front of one of the apartment buildings when an unidentified person fired into the vehicle.

While officers were still on the scene at the apartment complex, they heard additional gunfire nearby and located a 20-year-old woman who told officers she was inside her Hay Court apartment at 4420 21st Street when an unknown person shot into the apartment.

According to police, it is not yet clear whether the two incidents are related and there is no known motive at this time.
