UPDATE: According to Sgt. Adam Clark with the Cullman Police Department (CPD), Drozda was arrested for Reckless Murder after being found at a Red Roof Inn in Hartselle. He is currently awaiting transport back to Cullman.
CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) — Cullman Police are searching for a suspect following a fatal shooting late Sunday night.
According to Cullman Police, 36-year-old John Wesley Drozda is wanted in connection with a shooting that happened following a verbal altercation around 10:55 pm near the 200 block of Hickory Avenue SW. Officers discovered a man critically injured at the scene and had him transported to a local hospital.
The Cullman County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim later died from his injuries. He was identified as 37-year-old Thomas James Brannon of Cullman.
Brannon’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy.
Cullman Police said Drozda is not in custody and is considered armed and dangerous. Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Drozda.
