Victim dies after being shot in Chevron gas station shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE (5/28): The Birmingham Police Department has announced that the victim who was injured in a shooting at a Chevron Thursday has died.

Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim. They say the shooting may have stemmed from an attempted theft.

No other information has been released at this time.

ORIGINAL (5/27): Police are investigating a shooting at a gas station in Birmingham Thursday.

According to reports, a man was shot at the Chevron gas station at 2301 Ensley Avenue in Birmingham just before 9 a.m. The man walked into the gas station suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to the hospital and is currently in surgery. No suspects have been taken into custody.

No other details have been released at this time.
