SYLACAUGA, Ala. (WIAT) — A North Carolina man has been arrested for setting fire to a Sylacauga church Tuesday.

28-year-old Donald Christopher Crawford is charged with first-degree arson after he set a fire that damaged the basement area of Knollwood Presbyterian Church, Sylacauga Police report. Crawford is reported to be a homeless, wanderer traveling from North Carolina to Florida.

At the time of the fire, police say a group of parishioners were inside of the church. Everyone was able to evacuate the building and no injuries were reported. The Sylacauga Fire Department reported to the fire and extinguished the fire.
