ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) -- The following was released by the Alabaster Police Department:

The Alabaster Police Department has arrested Michael Kinsey, 52, of Michael Drive in Alabaster. Kinsey has been charged with two (2) counts of Sodomy 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Sodomy 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child Less Than 12 Years Old, and one (1) count of Rape 1st Degree.

The charges are a result of an investigation that started on January 27, 2019, when the Alabaster Police Department responded to a report of sexual abuse involving a juvenile.

Kinsey was booked into the Shelby County Jail on February 12, 2019, and is being held on $85,000 bond.

“We will aggressively pursue and prosecute offenders to protect children.” Detective Josh Rauch stated. Anyone with information concerning this investigation we ask that you contact the Alabaster Police Department at (205) 663-7401 or Alabaster Criminal Investigations Division at (205) 664-6850.

In addition to Kinsey's recent arrest, he was arrested in 2003 for indecent exposure.

In one statement from a victim it details that them and a friend were walking from another friend’s house when a man drove past the group and parking in his driveway. He parked his car, went to his porch, and began to masturbate, the victim wrote. They also wrote that they saw him take his private area out and begin masturbating.

Another statement from a victim said the suspect stared at the boys while he masturbated, court records show. The documents included another statement that said the victim stated the suspect has followed him before, several months ago.

Probable cause was found on complaint filed in the court against Michael Kinsey, charging him with indecent exposure in violation of Ordinance number 11-31, which embraces Section 13A-6-68, Code of Alabama 1975.
