Jefferson County deputies arrest shooter with help of Star 1 Helicopter

(WIAT) — In the Minor Heights Community, Jefferson County Sherrif’s Office deputies arrived to the scene on the 1100 block of Utica Street. There was a report of a man shooting at a house.

Deputies arrived and attempted to take the man into custody. The suspect attempted to flee into a wooded area behind the house which he appeared to be familiar with.

The Sheriff’s Star 1 helicopter assisted deputies in tracking the suspect until he was apprehended and taken into custody.

The suspect has been identified as 59-year-old Ronnie Lenear Colvin. He is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied building, reckless endangerment, menacing, 3rd-degree assault, public intoxication and a warrant of driving without a license. Witnesses report that Colvin was drunk and angry that he had been asked to leave so he returned shooting at the house.

No one was injured.

Colvin is held on a $42,350 bond.
