Headless, limbless torso found in Alabama neighborhood

Law enforcement sources have released disturbing details on the body that was found Wednesday morning on Velma Street in Prichard.

Sources tell News 5’s Allen Carter that the body was found without a head or any of its limbs in a heavily brushed area off Velma Street near Wilson Avenue.

Investigators say all they have is the torso. The victim’s head, arms and legs are all missing.

Additionally, sources tell News 5 State Forensics workers had to be called in just to identify the sex and race of the victim.

As we reported earlier, city officials say a Prichard environmental officer discovered the body in a heavily brushed area on Velma Street near Wilson Avenue.

Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich arrived soon after crime tape went up in that area. Rich says the body was badly decomposed and all they know at this point is that it is an adult male.

The body had been left there for at least 2 days.

Investigators haven’t determined an exact cause of death, though they have confirmed it is a homicide investigation.
