BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: Justin MacNeill, 24 of Cleveland, has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the slaying of Myron Brian Beavers, 51 of Blountsville.
Preliminary results show that Beavers died from blunt force injuries to the head, caused by an ax-like instrument.
According to a press release from District Attorney Pamela L. Casey, law enforcement alerted to a possible homicide following a car chase on I59 on Wednesday. An Alabama State Trooper was advised a brown pickup had sideswiped his vehicle and fled the scene. The trooper located the pickup and then initiated a traffic stop, but the driver fled from the trooper and led him on a 10 mile chase.
All three people inside the vehicle were taken to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office following the disclosure of a potential homicide.
MacNeill was arrested and charged with capital murder-robbery and capital murder-burglary. MacNeill was found to be in possession of Beavers’ 1989 pickup truck as well as his debit card. He is currently being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility with no bond.
ORIGINAL: Wednesday afternoon, 51-year-old Myron Brian Beavers was pronounced dead around 3 p.m. at a home on College Street in Blountsville according to John Mark Vaughn, the Blount County Coroner.
Police are calling this a homicide investigation.
