Car chase ends after vehicle hits occupied Hueytown police car

HUEYTOWN, Ala. (WIAT) —  According to Chief Mike Yarbrough of Hueytown police department, Birmingham police officers were chasing a stolen car until it slammed into a Hueytown police car with a police officer inside. Sgt. Williams of the Birmingham Police Department stated that the chase started 8:15 p.m. Thursday night in the 4200 Block of 10th Avenue in the Wylam community ended on the intersection of Allison Bonnett and Tin Mill Road.

The Hueytown police officer that was slammed into by the stolen car was not part of the chase. The officer did not suffer any injuries.

Two suspects were taken into custody and have not been formally charged at this time.
