BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police are investigating a double homicide that happened Saturday afternoon.
According to Birmingham Police, the shooting happened at a business on Parkway East around 4:05 p.m. Police arrived on scene to find the male victims unresponsive inside the business suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers also located two other victims on the scene who were wounded by gunfire inside the business.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and pronounced 26-year-old Reginald Curtis Crawford Jr. and 21-year-old Cornelius Ja’Shawn Hilliard dead at the scene. Fire and rescue transported the two additional victims to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said a preliminary investigation suggests an argument took place inside the business and turned violent.
An officer on scene provided information for a suspect vehicle and patrol officers nearby spotted a vehicle matching the description fleeing the scene. Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit began.
The suspect vehicle was eventually involved in a single-car accident when it left the road and crashed into a ravine near Tarrant-Huffman Road at Linthicum Street in Tarrant.
Officers were able to take three men into custody shortly after the chase. A fourth suspect escaped the scene on foot and remains at large.
The fourth suspect was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a black emblem near the collar, black pants and black shoes. He is presumed to be armed.
