Arrest warrants obtained charging two Bessemer men with capital murder, both remain at large


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Abdul Malek Alsabahi, 52, was found shot to death in the front yard of a home in the 5700 block of 14th Street South in Lipscomb on August 1, 2015.

Lipscomb Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office began to work the investigation as a homicide. Detectives discovered that Alsabahi had been operating an illegal gambling business at the above address, and he had been shot and killed during the robbery of his business.

Over the following months, detectives developed two suspects, Antonio Darnell Crawford, 44, and Edward Mack Jr., 39, both of Bessemer.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Crawford and Mack on January 28, charging them with capital murder during the robbery. There is no bond for Crawford or Mack.
