2 facing attempted murder charges for shooting 15-year-old girl

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Investigators have arrested two people in connection with the shooting of the 15-year-old girl early Sunday morning.

22-year-old Jeremy Hines and 21-year-old Johnathan Cook have been arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit. The two men are both from Livingston, Ala.

Cook is also facing an additional charge for shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Around 2:15 a.m., The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of University Boulevard. The 15-year-old girl was taken to DCH Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the neck, then flown to the Children’s Hospital for treatment in critical condition.

Both men will be held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending bond.

At this time, investigators have not released a motive in the shooting. This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
