CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) — According to Capt. David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies captured 19-year-old suspect Carlos Dion Harper after he and another suspect stole money and a vehicle from a woman and led police on a chase.
The incident started at 8:03 p.m. Monday night when a woman called 9-1-1 to report that she and her friends met two men to buy marijuana in the 4100 block of Messeyline Church Road in Pinson, but the two men robbed them. The victim stated that the men had a weapon and took her money and her car.
Jefferson Co. deputies spotted the stolen vehicle near Highway 151 and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and rammed a patrol vehicle while attempting to get away. The chase ended at some apartments on Bond Circle in Center Point.
Deputies searched the area but could not find the driver.
Harper was arrested and charged with robbery first degree and resisting arrest. His bonds total to $40,300. Sheriff’s detectives are continuing the investigation and will be identifying the driver and obtaining warrants against him.
