BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) – Hope you’re hungry, Birmingham. Mark your calendar and work up an appetite: Birmingham Restaurant Week kicks off August 16th through August 25th.
“We have about 60 restaurants participating, and offering every kind type of deal from $5 to $50, ” said Audrey Pannell, an organizer with Birmingham Restaurant Week.
Clifton Holt, owner and executive chef of Little Savannah Restaurant and Bar, has participated in restaurant week for almost a decade. “People that don’t normally come to see us that might have a preconceived notion that we’re some untouchable place can come in and have a multi-course dinner with choices for $40,” he said.
Participating restaurants all over Birmingham are offering special lunch and/or dinner menus are set price points.
It’s also hitting at a great time for the restaurant owners, themselves. Holt said this is normally a slow time of the year in the industry. “I wish that we could do restaurant week once a month,” he said, “especially in football season, because football season can be detrimental to business in the fall, and it would be nice to do something a little more consistent.”
